We will have a Zoom meeting featuring: Ciro Coelho on “How Photography as a Hobby Has Shaped Photography as a Career for 32 Years”.
In this lecture, Brazilian-born, California-based Ciro Coelho will tell his passionate and very personal story of a life-long relationship with photography. He will explain how nourishing photography as a hobby has influenced the transformation, evolution and maturity of his professional career. Coelho has traveled the world over while working in different fields of photography, including advertising, fashion, photojournalism, sports, architectural, fine art and travel/ adventure. His images have been featured in numerous books and publications on four continents. In the U.S., they include The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Luxe, Interior Design, Architectural Record, Robb Report, California Homes, and Sunset Magazine,among others.
At 23, Coelho decided to pursue photography as a career and went on to apprentice for years with renowned photographers in Brazil. In his late 20s, he was hired as an assistant-editor of photography at Folha de S. Paulo, the largest circulation newspaper in that country, where he developed a passion for photographing indoor Volleyball. In the 90s, Coelho was sent on assignment to the U.S., Italy, Greece and Japan to cover international tournaments for Brazilian news agencies.
