Penny Wolin – Boundaries, Borders, and Time: Thoughts on Photography.

Penny Wolin is an American portrait photographer and a visual anthropologist. She was educated at ArtCenter College of Design, The American Film Institute and UCLA. She has exhibited solo at the Smithsonian Institution and is the recipient of two National Endowment for the Humanities grants and one grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Her work is held in such collections as the New York Public Library; Santa Barbara Museum of Art; David Geffen Foundation; Layton Art Collection at the Milwaukee Art Museum; and the Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of American History. She has published two acclaimed books of photography on American Jewish culture and has lectured on this subject. Wolin shall present an audio-visual dialogue exploring the boundaries of personal style, long-term projects and photographic storytelling, using 21st century tools with a 20th century reverence.

Penny has recently moved to Santa Barbara and looks forward to continuing her photographic work locally. Please join us in welcoming her to our community and to hear an inspiring talk about her life in photography.
